Case study Chinese outbound tourism to the Alps: The role of winter outdoor activities in attracting Chinese visitors to the European Alps
Research Questions: a) How has Chinese outbound tourism to Europe developed in the last decade and how can it be forecast to develop in the coming decade? b) Which role play winter outdoor activities for the leisure behaviour of Chinese travellers inside and outside of China? c) How will the decision to hold the Winter Olympic 2022 in Beijing influence the government policies and the public perception of winter sports? d) Which activities have been undertaken by destinations in the Alps region and by other destinations globally to attract Chinese visitors on the base of winter outdoor activities and how successful have they been? e) What should destinations in the Alps do in the coming years to attract more Chinese outbound tourists to visit the Alps for winter outdoor activities?
