International Tourism Master Forum goal: Understand and present examples of recent tourism science discourse about major topics of international tourism management, based on recent articles in the most important scientific journal for tourism Annals of Tourism Research.
6 Topics for group work assignment (2-3 students per group): Present topic based on article, explain background, content, scientific methods used. Report on experience of relating to article, give critical review Prepare group exercise based on
topic and/or methods of article Examination:
- Presentation (60 min. including discussion) + 30 min. group
exercise (with active part for
all participants, for instance: prepared role play or prepared debate etc.)
- Assignment Paper

TOURISM - WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT - CREATING DEMAND, EXAMPLE easyCruise easyCruise – failed attempt to develop a low budget cruise
line 2003 -H.I. Stelios, owner of easyjet, decides to form a
budget cruise line 2004 - Ship was acquired for an approach to cruising aimed
at attracting younger customers who wished to spend the majority of their time
on shore rather than on board a megaship. Ship offers barest of amenities,
allowing very cheap prices. Ship would move from port to port at night or in
the early morning, in order to allow the maximum time in each port ashore. 2005 – EasyCruiseOne comes into operation, calling between ports in St. Tropez, Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Imperia, Genoa and Portofino in the summer and in the Caribbean calling at Barbados, St Vincent, Martinique, Bequia, Grenada and St Lucia in the winter 2005-2006, and calling at St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Antigua, Nevis, St. Barts and Anguilla in the winter 2006-2007 2006 - EasyCruiseTwo operates in Netherlands on rivers until August 2007 2007 – Relocation to the Greek Islands for a 14-night itinerary calling at Piraeus, Mykonos, Paros, Sifnos, Poros, Spetses, Milos, Ios, Amorgos, Naxos, Folegandros and Serifos. Before possible to join the ship at any port and stay for a minimum of 2, to a maximum of 14 nights, since 2007 embarkation solely at the port of Piraeus for cruises of 3, 4, 7, 10 or 14 nights 2008 - EasyCruise Life starting service, EasyCruiseOne sold 2009 - Cruise line sold to Greek ferry operator Hellenic
